Objectives Anecdotal evidence from clinicians and other providers indicate a growing interest
in abortifacient plants and increased demand for herbal abortion in certain populations.
Herbal abortion remains an underrecognized and underresearched abortion method, and
accurate information is lacking about herbal abortion in academic and medical settings.
The objective of this systematic review is to evaluate the evidence on worldwide medicinal
plant and herb use in abortion care.
